Perry Achieves Historic Milestone

In a remarkable display of skill, Ellyse Perry, the renowned Australian all-rounder, has made history by becoming the leading run-scorer for Australian women in Test cricket. This achievement occurred during the second day of the one-off Test match against India at WACA Stadium in Perth on Saturday.

During her innings, Perry scored 76 runs, marking her as the second Australian woman to surpass 100 runs in Test cricket. She reached the 1000-run milestone with a single off the last ball of the 43rd over, becoming only the second female cricketer to do so after Karen Rolton, who has a total of 1002 runs in this format. Perry later surpassed Rolton's record with a stunning boundary off Deepti Sharma's delivery, solidifying her position as the highest run-scorer for Australian women. Unfortunately, she was dismissed shortly after her record-breaking shot.

Her innings included 10 boundaries and a six, and she formed a crucial partnership of 128 runs for the fourth wicket with Annabel Sutherland, significantly contributing to Australia's substantial lead after bowling India out for 198 runs.

As of Tea on Day 2, Australia stands at 217/4 after 58 overs. Both Beth Mooney (10*) and Sutherland (93* off 125 balls) remain at the crease, as the Australian team aims to build a formidable score. For India, Sayali Satghar has claimed two wickets, while Kranti Gaud and Sharma each took one.
