Elite National Boxing Championships Progress

At the Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championships held at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, several prominent boxers showcased their skills on Wednesday. Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen, along with World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 gold medalist Pawan Bartwal and Sumit, triumphed over their opponents, securing spots in the quarterfinals of their respective weight classes.


This event marks a historic occasion as it is the first time both men's and women's National Championships are being conducted simultaneously at a single venue, featuring 600 boxers competing across 10 weight categories for each gender.


Quarterfinal Highlights


In the women's 48-51kg division, the referee halted the match between Nikhat and Kulsooma Bano from Ladakh in the first round due to Nikhat's overwhelming performance. Pawan, competing in the men's 50-55kg category, defeated Lalit, while Sumit, in the men's 70-75kg category, overcame Madhya Pradesh's Kapil, with both bouts concluding in the third round.


Earlier in the competition, world champion Minakshi, fighting in the women's 45-48kg category, secured a decisive 5:0 victory against Jharkhand's Annu.


In the men's 50-55kg category, Jadumani Singh achieved a comfortable 5:0 win over Manish Rathore from Uttar Pradesh, while 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Amit Panghal triumphed over Chandigarh's Krrish Pal with a score of 4:1.
