Changes in Police Leadership Ahead of Elections
The Election Commission has initiated a transfer of 173 officers in charge (O.C.) and inspectors in charge (I.C.) to ensure free and fair elections in West Bengal. This includes 31 police stations that fall under the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police, as reported by officials.
On Sunday, key officials from significant electoral areas such as Bhawanipur in Kolkata and Nandigram in East Medinipur district were also reassigned. Additionally, inspectors and sub-inspectors serving in districts like Cooch Behar, Malda, Murshidabad, Birbhum, West Medinipur, Howrah, and North and South 24 Parganas have been transferred.
