To improve voter experience and streamline election management, the Election Commission has introduced 21 new initiatives over the past 100 days. Officials have indicated that these measures encompass procedural enhancements, training programs, and stakeholder engagement. These initiatives mark the first 100 days of the 26th Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar. To enhance accessibility for voters, the maximum number of voters per polling station has been reduced from 1,500 to 1,200. Additional polling stations will be established in densely populated areas, such as gated communities and high-rise buildings.
The Election Commission of India has stated that to enhance voter experience and make election management more effective, it has launched 21 new initiatives in the last 100 days. These initiatives include procedural improvements, training programs, and stakeholder engagement. Several purposeful, practical, and proactive measures have been implemented during the first 100 days of Gyanesh Kumar's tenure as Chief Election Commissioner.
To clarify the number of polling stations, voter information pamphlets have been redesigned. As a significant boost for voter convenience, a mobile phone deposit facility will be established at the entrance of each polling station. Candidates' booths will now be allowed within 100 meters of the polling station entrance, whereas previously they were restricted to 200 meters away from the polling station premises.
To facilitate a simpler user interface, a new integrated dashboard called ECINET has been developed. This aims to provide all services for stakeholders in one location, replacing the existing 40-plus applications. Additionally, the Election Commission has initiated direct integration of death registration data from the Registrar General of India to ensure timely and accurate removal of deceased voters from the electoral rolls.
