Eight Injured in Mini-Truck Accident Carrying Pilgrims in Odisha

Accident Involving Pilgrims in Ganjam District

Brahmapur (Odisha), August 9 – A mini-truck transporting pilgrims overturned in Ganjam district of Odisha on Sunday, resulting in injuries to at least eight devotees, according to police reports. A senior police official indicated that the incident occurred near Kaliabali in the Chamakhandi police station area while the vehicle was carrying approximately 20 individuals.

According to Chamakhandi police station chief, Shradhanjali Subuddhi, the pilgrims were en route from Jagdalpur to collect water from the Rushikulya River when the accident took place. The devotees had planned to visit the Aleshwar Shiva Temple for a ritual on Monday. The official confirmed that the injured, including the driver, were admitted to the sub-divisional hospital in Chhatrapur for treatment.

Later, three individuals with severe injuries were transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur for further care. Fortunately, all injured parties are reported to be out of danger. The police have seized the vehicle and are currently reviewing its documentation.
