Eight Bangladeshi Nationals Detained for Illegal Entry in Karnataka
Police Action in Mangaluru
In Mangaluru, Karnataka, law enforcement has reportedly detained eight Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly working at a construction site without legal entry into India. This operation was disclosed by officials on Friday. According to Sudhir Kumar Reddy, the Police Commissioner of Mangaluru, the police conducted a search on July 9 at an under-construction building in the Surathkal police jurisdiction based on a tip-off from an informant.
During the investigation, authorities verified the documents of 54 construction workers present at the site. It was discovered that eight of these workers were Bangladeshi citizens residing in India without valid travel documents. A senior police official indicated that preliminary inquiries revealed this group had reportedly crossed into Indian territory approximately three months ago via the Murshidabad region of West Bengal.
After entering India illegally, these individuals were provided with colored copies of Aadhaar cards bearing West Bengal addresses and their photographs. They had been employed at a construction site located in Mukka, near Surathkal, for the past two months. Upon questioning by the police, they presented their Bangladeshi national identity cards, confirming their citizenship.
Police officials have reported that detailed information regarding this case has been forwarded to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) located in Bengaluru. Additionally, local police have initiated an investigation to identify those who allegedly assisted these Bangladeshi nationals in their illegal entry and employment.
