Minister's Appeal for NEET-UG Re-exam Support

The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, reached out to the Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and Administrators of states and Union Territories on Monday, seeking their cooperation for the smooth and fair conduct of the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21. A statement from the Education Ministry highlighted that considering the extreme heat conditions, Pradhan urged the states and Union Territories to ensure the availability of necessary facilities for candidates at examination centers.

In his letter, Pradhan emphasized the need for district officials and educational institutions in each state and Union Territory to be directed to provide essential amenities for candidates. He specified that these facilities should include safe drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, functioning fans and coolers, clean restrooms, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted power supply, and portable toilets as necessary.

Prioritizing student welfare, Pradhan called on state governments to ensure sufficient transportation facilities for candidates on the exam day. He expressed confidence that all states and Union Territories would fully cooperate in conducting the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination in a smooth, transparent, and fair manner. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), which took place on May 3, was canceled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 12 amid allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter, with the re-examination set for June 21.
