ED Uncovers Major Online Betting Operation Linked to Karnataka Congress MLA
Investigation into Online Betting Scheme
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that K.C. Veerendra, a Congress MLA from Karnataka, was allegedly running an online betting platform that amassed over ₹2,000 crores in a short span.
The agency further stated that Veerendra, identified as the 'main accused' in a case involving fraudulent activities through illegal online betting, was operating several gaming websites in collaboration with associates based in Dubai.
According to the ED, these individuals were manipulating funds and disguising their illicit operations as e-commerce ventures by utilizing various payment gateways and fintech companies.
Last month, the federal investigative agency apprehended the 50-year-old legislator in Sikkim, where he was reportedly on a business trip. He is currently in ED custody.
