ED's Raids Target AAP Leaders in Punjab

The Enforcement Directorate's (ED) recent operations in Punjab have escalated the pressure on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as the agency has implicated Aman Arora, the party's state president and cabinet minister, in its search details. The ED conducted raids at approximately 12 locations linked to two real estate groups in Mohali. These sites are under scrutiny for allegations involving forged land documents, unauthorized land use changes, and fraud against homebuyers and landowners. During the raids, two bags filled with bundles of ₹500 notes, valued at ₹2.1 million, were reportedly discarded from the ninth floor of the Western Towers Society in Kharar, Mohali. This incident is connected to broker Nitin Gohal. The ED reported that around ₹10 million in cash and several crucial documents were seized during the operation.

The ED's actions were initiated based on an FIR filed by the Punjab police. The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) had revoked the society's license in November 2022, implicating an associate of Aman Arora. According to the ED, the raids targeted Suntech City (Indian Cooperative Housing Building Society) and Altus Space Builders Private Limited. The agency revealed that Gaurav Dheer of Dheer Constructions and Suncity Projects allegedly undervalued the Altus project, purchasing it for only ₹1.3 billion instead of the actual worth of over ₹1.7 billion. The ED has identified Gaurav Dheer as a close associate of Aman Arora, the AAP leader and cabinet minister.
