ED Takes Action Against Anil Ambani's Property
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a temporary seizure order on Anil Ambani's luxurious residence, 'Abode', located in Mumbai, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The estimated value of this property is a staggering ₹3,716.83 crores. This 17-story tower, standing 66 meters tall, is situated in the upscale Pali Hill area and has now been added to the growing list of assets seized in connection with alleged banking fraud involving Reliance Communications (RCom).
On Wednesday, February 25, official sources confirmed this action, bringing the total value of seized assets in this case to approximately ₹15,700 crores. 'Abode', located in one of Mumbai's most affluent neighborhoods, symbolizes luxury, but it has been temporarily confiscated due to the ED's anti-money laundering efforts. The agency claims that this property is linked to funds obtained from fraudulent banking transactions involving RCom, marking a significant development in the investigation of financial irregularities within the telecommunications company.
At 66 years old, Anil Ambani is expected to face questioning by the ED for the second time following his initial appearance and statement recording scheduled for August 2025 under the PMLA. This comes as the federal agency intensifies its investigation, and the seizure of assets indicates a ramping up of efforts to trace the misappropriation of funds related to the RCom scandal.
