Inspection of the Sonepur–Purunakatak Railway Section


Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, Parmeshwar Funkwal, the General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR), carried out a thorough inspection of the Sonepur–Purunakatak railway segment, which is part of the new Khurda Road–Balangir project.


Accompanied by senior officials from the ECoR headquarters, construction teams, and representatives from the Sambalpur Railway Division, the GM's visit aimed to assess the project's progress and ensure that it remains on schedule.


Funkwal stressed the importance of completing the project on time and encouraged officials to accelerate the remaining tasks while upholding quality and safety standards.


He also evaluated essential infrastructure elements and recommended actions to ensure timely completion. This significant project, under the close supervision of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, serves as a crucial link for the state's interior regions.


Of the total planned length of 301 km, 226 km has already been completed, which includes the stretch from Khurda Road to Daspalla (106 km) and from Balangir to Purunakatak (120 km).
