A Global Call to Action for Earth Hour


New Delhi: This Saturday evening, millions around the globe will participate in Earth Hour, celebrating its 20th anniversary.


India is poised for one of its most significant participations in this environmental initiative, with lights going out from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.


Across the nation, iconic landmarks, heritage sites, and government buildings will turn off their lights, showcasing a united front for environmental awareness, as reported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-India.


In the capital city, Delhi, notable sites such as Akshardham, India Gate, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Jantar Mantar, and Safdarjung Tomb will join in this initiative.


The theme for this year, "Give an Hour for Earth," encourages individuals to turn off their lights for one hour, symbolizing a moment of reflection and tranquility for our planet.


Since its inception in 2007, Earth Hour has been observed on the last Saturday of March, initiated by WWF to promote awareness about climate change.


It has evolved into one of the largest environmental movements worldwide, engaging billions across more than 190 countries.
