Recognized as Asia's oldest football tournament and the third-oldest globally, it will feature 24 teams, including two international squads, across five cities, solidifying its vital role in Indian football. NorthEast United FC will enter the tournament as the reigning champions.

In recent years, the IndianOil Durand Cup has significantly expanded its reach, particularly in eastern and northeastern India, enhancing its status as a premier platform for top clubs, service teams, and emerging football talent. The tournament will be hosted in five cities: Kolkata, Ranchi, Guwahati, Imphal, and Shillong, with Ranchi making its debut as a host city.
Matches will take place at six venues, including Kolkata's Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Kishore Bharati Krirangan, along with Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi, Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
