Following the arrests of Joseph Duggar and Kendra Duggar, the Duggar family has publicly shared their feelings regarding the serious allegations of child abuse. In a recent episode of their podcast, Jinger & Jeremy, released on March 25, Jinger Duggar Vuolo expressed her distress over the situation. She described the past week as incredibly challenging, stating, "It has been such a long week," and noted that it felt like time had stretched on for years. Jinger conveyed her heartbreak, saying, "I did not think my heart could break like it has this week," and reflected on the widespread impact of the news, calling it unthinkable and painful on multiple levels.
She also referenced a previous incident involving her brother Josh Duggar, who was convicted in 2021 for possessing child sexual abuse material and had faced earlier allegations. Jinger remarked, "You can't be prepared for news like this, even though we've experienced something very similar before, with one of my other siblings, who made unthinkable choices that have affected all of us." Her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, described the news as "devastating to hear," and shared that they had endured a "difficult week" while processing the events. He emphasized his concern for the victim, stating, "Thinking about the victim who was brave enough to share her story has been heartbreaking. The impact on that young person’s life is unimaginable, with so many damaging, rippling effects."
Other family members have also voiced their reactions. Amy Duggar King expressed feelings of being "sickened, heartbroken, and deeply angry." She stated, "My first thoughts are with the victim, a child who deserved to be safe, protected, and surrounded by trustworthy individuals," and expressed her shock at the allegations while criticizing what she termed a "toxic system." According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Duggar is facing charges related to alleged inappropriate sexual conduct involving a child under 12 years old. The investigation was initiated after another department reported past abuse. A 14-year-old girl informed authorities that the incidents took place during a family vacation in Florida in 2020 when she was nine years old.
Kendra Duggar was arrested on March 20, with sources indicating her arrest was connected to a home inspection where door locks were reportedly found on the outside. She faces four counts of endangering a minor and four counts of false imprisonment, but was released the same day after posting bond. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
