Ducati Launches Formula 73 in Indian Market

Ducati has introduced its limited edition motorcycle, the Formula 73, in India, priced at ₹20 lakh ex-showroom. This cafe racer draws inspiration from the iconic 750 Super Sport Desmo, which was launched in 1973. Only 873 units of the Formula 73 will be produced globally, and all units allocated for India have already been booked. This motorcycle is a unique offering for premium motorcycle enthusiasts, featuring a distinctive design, powerful engine, and advanced technology.

Inspired by the Historic 1973 Model

The Ducati Formula 73 pays homage to the legacy of the 750 Super Sport Desmo, one of the early road bikes from Ducati that featured a desmodromic valve timing system. Its design is also influenced by the 750 Imola Desmo, which won the 200 Miglia di Imola race in 1972, a significant event in the history of production motorcycle racing in Europe.

Modern Design with Classic Elements

The new Formula 73 combines elements of the classic model with a contemporary design. It is available in silver and aqua-green colors, with a gold stripe on the fuel tank that reflects the unpainted area used for checking fuel levels during races. To enhance its cafe racer aesthetic, the bike features clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, a compact front fairing, and a slim tail section. Additionally, components like levers, footpegs, and the Rizoma fuel cap are made from billet aluminum.

Powerful 803cc Engine

Equipped with an 803cc Desmodue L-twin engine, the Ducati Formula 73 generates a maximum power of 73hp at 8,250rpm and peak torque of 65.2Nm at 7,000rpm. The motorcycle features a specially developed Termignoni exhaust that enhances its performance and sporty character.

Robust Frame and Suspension

The bike utilizes a steel trellis frame, with a 41mm KYB upside-down fork at the front and a KYB monoshock at the rear with preload adjustment. It weighs 183 kilograms without fuel and comes with 17-inch spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires. The Formula 73 is presented as a blend of classic style and modern riding experience.

Advanced Features and Riding Technology

In addition to its vintage design, the Formula 73 is equipped with several modern electronic features. It includes cornering ABS and traction control for safety, along with a quickshifter and two riding modes to enhance the riding experience under various conditions.

TFT Display and LED Lighting

The motorcycle features a 4.3-inch TFT display for instrumentation, while the lighting system is entirely LED-based. The company also offers heated grips and turn-by-turn navigation as optional accessories, combining retro aesthetics with contemporary technology.

Authenticity Certificate with Each Bike

A notable aspect of the Ducati Formula 73 is its limited availability. The company will produce only 873 units worldwide, each featuring a unique serial number on the steering plate. An authenticity certificate will accompany each unit, certifying its limited edition status.

Special Box for Buyers

Buyers will also receive a special box containing historical photographs and design sketches from the Ducati Style Center, providing insight into the bike's design and its historical inspiration. All units allocated for India have already been booked, making availability limited for interested customers. Priced at ₹20 lakh, the Formula 73 is a special offering for motorcycle enthusiasts who appreciate Ducati's heritage, distinctive design, and modern technology.
