Limited Flight Operations Resume at Dubai Airports

Dubai Airports has announced a cautious restart of flight operations beginning Monday evening, March 2. A select number of flights will be allowed to depart from both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). In a travel advisory released on Sunday, officials indicated that only a limited number of flights would be available initially as part of a gradual resumption of services. Travelers are strongly urged to avoid heading to DXB or DWC unless they have received direct communication from their airline confirming their departure time.

Earlier this week, flight operations across Dubai and much of the Middle East were suspended due to extensive airspace closures following a significant escalation in the Iran-Israel conflict. Military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran prompted several regional nations, including the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, to restrict or close their airspace as a precautionary measure for civilian flights. This situation has left many passengers stranded and resulted in numerous global flight cancellations and delays.

Emirates Airlines has stated that it will begin operating a limited number of flights starting on the evening of March 2, giving priority to travelers with existing bookings. Passengers who have been rebooked onto these limited flights will be contacted directly by the airline. Emirates has also reiterated that all other flights remain suspended until further notice and has advised customers not to go to the airport without prior confirmation.

The disruptions in flight services occur during one of the most severe escalations in the Middle East in recent years, characterized by missile and drone exchanges between Iran and its allies, as well as military operations by Israel and the U.S., leading to significant airspace restrictions across the Gulf region.
