Major Gold Seizure at Mumbai Airport

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has reported the seizure of gold valued at ₹3.89 crores at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, claiming to have dismantled a smuggling ring. This information was shared by an official on Thursday.


According to the official, DRI agents intercepted a passenger arriving from Bahrain based on specific intelligence on Wednesday.


Upon searching the passenger's belongings, officials discovered 12 capsules filled with gold powder, weighing a total of 3.05 kilograms. The capsules were cleverly concealed inside a water bottle to evade detection.


The seized gold is of 24-carat purity, estimated to be worth ₹3.89 crores. The gold has been confiscated, and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
