The fireworks, weighing 100 metric tons, were falsely declared as decorative items. One suspect has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing. Major Seizure of Fireworks by DRI

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has successfully uncovered and confiscated Chinese fireworks and firecrackers valued at ₹35 crore as part of its operation named 'Fire Trail'. This information was disclosed by an official on Friday.


According to the official, the fireworks were concealed within seven containers located at Nhava Sheva Port near Mumbai, as well as at Mundra Port and Kandla SEZ in Gujarat.


The official further explained that these Chinese firecrackers, weighing a total of 100 metric tons, were illegally imported under the names of certain KASEZ units and IEC holders.


Some of these shipments were intended to be routed through Kandla SEZ to the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), falsely declared as decorative plants, artificial flowers, and plastic mats. One suspect has been apprehended and is currently in judicial custody, with further investigations ongoing.
