Dr. Janak Raj Celebrates Chamba Thaal Craftsmanship with Local Artisans

On November 3, 2025, Dr. Janak Raj, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Bharmour in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, engaged in a casual discussion with women artisans participating in Chamba Thaal handicraft training. This initiative is part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
During his visit, Dr. Raj praised the dedication of the women’s self-help groups that are committed to preserving and promoting traditional crafts. He emphasized that the Chamba Thaal, renowned for its detailed designs and craftsmanship, symbolizes the rich cultural heritage of the Chamba district, showcasing artistry that has been handed down through generations.
“The Chamba Thaal is more than just a craft; it embodies our history and cultural identity,” he remarked, motivating the women artisans to enhance their skills and proudly uphold this local tradition.
