Outstanding Achievement in UPSC CMS Examination

Dr. Ishita Verma, hailing from Kathlag village in Mandi district, has made her mark by securing the 47th position in the UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2025. The results were announced on December 22, 2025, following a rigorous written exam and personality assessment conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.


The UPSC CMS Examination is recognized as one of the most challenging assessments for medical graduates aiming to join essential government health services. The written portion (Part I) took place on July 20, 2025, while the personality test (Part II) was conducted on November 4, 2025. Candidates were selected for prestigious medical roles within the Central Health Service, Railways, New Delhi Municipal Council, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi based on their overall performance.


As per the official announcement from the Press Information Bureau, Government of India, successful candidates have been categorized into two main groups. These include Medical Officers Grade in the General Duty Medical Officers sub-cadre of the Central Health Service, along with positions for Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways, General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council, and General Duty Medical Officer Grade-II in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.


At just 24 years old, Dr. Ishita Verma's accomplishment is remarkable not only for her impressive rank but also for her solid academic and professional credentials. She completed her schooling at DAV Centenary Public School in Mandi and earned her MBBS degree from Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur.


Renowned for her academic diligence and commitment to public service, she currently works as a Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Barot, where she actively contributes to healthcare delivery in a rural and mountainous area.


In addition to her recent success, Dr. Ishita has also been accepted for post-graduation studies at AIIMS-Jammu, one of India's leading medical institutions. Her ability to prepare for competitive exams while serving in a government health facility showcases her dedication to both professional excellence and patient care.


Dr. Ishita comes from a family with a strong commitment to public service. Her father, Dr. Ghanshyam, serves as a Senior Veterinary Officer at the Sub-Divisional Veterinary Hospital in Sundernagar, while her mother, Anita, has been a steadfast supporter throughout her educational journey. Her brother, Kshitij Verma, is in his fourth year of pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science at BITS-Pilani.
