Donald Trump Claims Title of 'Acting President of Venezuela' on Social Media
Trump's Controversial Social Media Post
New York: President Donald Trump recently shared a striking image of himself on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he referred to himself as the "Acting President of Venezuela."
In his Sunday post, Trump displayed his official portrait alongside the title "Acting President of Venezuela, Incumbent January 2026."
He also highlighted his roles as both the 45th and 47th President of the United States, having taken office on January 20, 2025.
Earlier this month, the US executed a significant military operation against Venezuela, resulting in the capture of its leader, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were subsequently transported to New York to face charges related to narco-terrorism conspiracy.
Trump stated that the US would oversee Venezuela until a safe and proper transition could occur, emphasizing the need to ensure that the interests of Venezuelans are prioritized.
Last week, Delcy Rodriguez, Venezuela's vice president and oil minister, was officially inaugurated as the interim president of the country.
Trump mentioned that the interim Venezuelan authorities would be transferring between 30 and 50 million barrels of "high-quality, sanctioned oil" to the US, which would be sold at market rates.
"I will manage that revenue as President of the United States to ensure it benefits both the Venezuelan and American people! I've instructed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement this plan immediately, with the oil being transported directly to US unloading docks," he added.
