A 49-year-old surgeon, Neil Hopper, has reportedly amputated both of his legs in a shocking bid to claim insurance money amounting to approximately £500,000 (around ₹5.82 crores). The Insurance Scheme

Hopper's actions were unveiled in court, where evidence was presented detailing his attempts to defraud two major insurance companies. He filed claims on June 3 and June 26, 2019, seeking compensation for the loss of his legs, which he falsely attributed to sepsis. In reality, he had orchestrated the gruesome act himself. His medical license was suspended in 2023 as the case unfolded.

Inciting Others to Follow Suit

In a further twist, Hopper allegedly encouraged another individual, Marius Gustafsson, to engage in similar self-harm for financial gain. Court documents revealed that Hopper purchased videos from a website that demonstrated and promoted the process of amputation. This disturbing conspiracy spanned from August 21, 2018, to December 4, 2020.

A Disturbing Sense of Satisfaction

Incredibly, Hopper expressed a sense of happiness following his self-inflicted amputations. In an interview, he stated, 'Life has become much more interesting after losing my legs.' He now faces charges of fraud and inciting others to commit similar acts, with the case continuing to attract widespread attention across the UK.
