Severe Punishment for Acid Attack Case

A Delhi court has sentenced a doctor to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in an acid attack on a woman in 2014. The case was presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Soumya Chauhan, who heard arguments regarding the sentencing of Dr. Ashok Yadav (42) and his accomplice Vaibhav (32), both found guilty of conspiring to attack the victim.

Prosecutor Nimmi Sisodia emphasized that the perpetrators do not deserve any leniency. In a recent ruling dated July 26, the court stated, 'Ashok Yadav was the principal conspirator. After the victim rejected his marriage proposal and got engaged to someone else, he plotted to disfigure her face out of revenge.'

Yadav coordinated with co-accused Vaibhav to execute the plan, deciding to disguise the attack as a robbery to avoid suspicion. The court sentenced Yadav to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of five lakh rupees. Meanwhile, Vaibhav was released, having already served over ten years since December 25, 2014.
