Tragic Bus Accident Claims Lives on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

Jaipur, July 3: Authorities have successfully identified the remains of six individuals who tragically lost their lives in a catastrophic bus-trailer accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Dausa district. The victims were burned beyond recognition, necessitating DNA testing for identification.
The incident resulted in a total of eight fatalities. Six passengers perished in the fire, while two others died from severe head injuries caused by the collision.
The identified victims include Bhumi Bhaur from Bajrang Nagar, Indore; Priyanka Pandey from Barwah; Deepak Tanwar from Barwah in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district; Nirmala Gupta from Annapurna Nagar, Indore; Devendra Singh from Rampura Kalan, Sidhganj, Madhya Pradesh; and Ram Avtar, the bus driver, as confirmed by police officials.
Post-mortem examinations were carried out on Thursday after the identification process, and the bodies were subsequently returned to their families.
DNA samples for the first four victims were sent to Jaipur for analysis on Wednesday evening. Once their identities were confirmed, post-mortems were performed, and the remains were released to their relatives.
Samples from Devendra Singh and bus driver Ram Avtar were sent for testing on Thursday morning. Following the confirmation of their identities, their post-mortems were also conducted, and the bodies were returned to their families.
Earlier, two other victims had been identified. Kuldeep, the bus operator, succumbed to head injuries from the crash, and his body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem. The body of Dharamsingh, a resident of Bhutedi village in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district, was also returned to his family on Wednesday evening.
This unfortunate accident took place in the early hours of July 1 when a sleeper bus collided with a trailer, resulting in a devastating fire that engulfed the vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the eight deceased and 22 injured passengers to Dausa District Hospital for treatment.
Due to the severe charring of several bodies, authorities opted for DNA profiling to accurately identify the victims before releasing their remains to their families.
