DMK Unveils Ambitious Election Manifesto for Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls
Key Highlights of the DMK Election Manifesto
On Sunday, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu presented its election manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections. The document includes a commitment to increase the monthly financial assistance for 1.3 crore women enrolled in the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme to Rs 2,000, as reported by a local media outlet.
Additionally, the party introduced the Illathu Arasi scheme, which aims to provide an Rs 8,000 coupon to homemakers who do not pay income tax, allowing them to purchase electronic appliances according to their requirements.
The manifesto outlines plans to raise the old-age pension from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000, while individuals with disabilities will receive Rs 2,500. Furthermore, the income limit for the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme is set at Rs 5 lakh annually, with coverage increased to Rs 10 lakh.

The manifesto also includes various initiatives for farmers, such as the installation of motors without meters for those receiving free electricity. It promises to raise the procurement price to Rs 3,500 per quintal for paddy and Rs 4,500 per tonne for sugarcane.
Moreover, the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme for students up to Class 8 is set to be expanded, benefiting an additional 15 lakh students, according to the report.
Plans to construct five lakh new homes under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme, along with 10 lakh under an urban housing development initiative, were also highlighted.
Chief Minister MK Stalin remarked that the manifesto would enter the electoral battle as a 'superstar' during its launch.
The elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 23, with vote counting taking place on May 4.
