DMK to Hold Crucial Meeting Ahead of Elections
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has announced a significant meeting of district secretaries scheduled for next week, specifically on March 16, to strategize for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. This gathering will be led by party president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, as stated in a letter from DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan.
According to the letter, the meeting will take place at 10:30 AM at the Kalaignar Arangam located in Anna Arivalayam, Chennai. Durai Murugan emphasized the importance of attendance, urging all district union secretaries and MPs to be present.
The focus of this meeting will be on strategic planning and organizational preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Discussions will also cover strengthening party activities at the district level ahead of the elections. The Tamil Nadu assembly elections are set to occur within the first six months of 2026, prompting political parties to ramp up their campaigning efforts and finalize seat-sharing arrangements within their alliances. The assembly comprises a total of 234 elected seats.
In related news, following an agreement with the ruling DMK, the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) will contest four seats in the upcoming assembly elections. On March 11, discussions regarding seat allocation took place between DMK leader M.K. Stalin and MDMK General Secretary Vaiko. It was decided that MDMK would contest four assembly seats as part of the secular progressive alliance.
