Empowering Girls Through Education

On Tuesday, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran sparked a discussion by asserting that in northern states, girls are often expected to stay home and handle domestic chores, whereas Tamil Nadu encourages girls to pursue education and build careers. Speaking to students at the Kaid-e-Millat Government Women's College, Maran praised Tamil Nadu as the best state in India and commended Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

Maran emphasized that Tamil Nadu stands out as the finest state in the country, with M.K. Stalin being the most effective chief minister. He referred to the Dravidian model of governance, highlighting that the principles of Periyar have ignited Dravidianism in the state. He stressed the importance of girls' education, noting that the current administration is aligned with these ideals. Maran expressed pride in the students, stating, 'Our daughters should take pride in their education, and we are proud of them. Unlike in northern states where girls are discouraged from working, we want our daughters to study.'

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin distributed laptops to students at the Kaid-e-Millat Government Women's College under the 'Ulgam Ungal Kaiyil' initiative. He acknowledged the social responsibilities of the students and highlighted the college's long-standing contribution to female education. Addressing the students, Stalin expressed his happiness in distributing laptops, wishing them a prosperous New Year and Pongal. He remarked that educated girls significantly contribute to society. The college has a rich history, having been named by Karunanidhi in 1974, along with the establishment of new buildings and enhanced infrastructure.

Stalin distributed laptops to 900 final-year students, noting that the government allocated ₹2.5 crore for this initiative. He emphasized that girls should utilize these laptops for educational purposes rather than for social media.
