DMK Finalizes Seat Distribution for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
Seat Allocation Completed for Upcoming Elections
On Saturday, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu concluded the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming assembly elections, identifying constituencies for its allies, including Congress, leftist parties, VCK, and DMK. Voting is scheduled for April 23 in the state.
The DMK is leading the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) in Tamil Nadu. According to the agreement, Congress, a key ally of the DMK, will contest 28 seats, which include Ponnery, Erode East, Vilavancode, Sivakasi, and Karaikudi.
The DMK's ally, the DMDK led by Premalatha Vijayakanth, has been allocated 10 seats, including Virudhachalam and Pallavaram. The VCK, under the leadership of Thol Thirumavalavan, has received eight seats, which encompass Kattumannarkoil, Panrutti, and Tindivanam. The CPI(M) has been assigned the Padmanabhapuram and Palani seats, while the CPI will contest from Thalli and Bhavanisagar (SC) among others. Both leftist parties have been granted five seats each.
Additionally, the DMK has earmarked seats for other allied parties, including the MDMK led by Vaiko, which will contest four seats.
