Key Meeting at DMK Headquarters

On Saturday, senior leaders convened at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, in Chennai to deliberate on the seat-sharing arrangement with the Indian National Congress for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in 2026. This meeting holds significant importance as coalition partners initiate formal discussions ahead of the elections. Earlier, on Friday, Girish Chodankar, the Tamil Nadu in-charge of the All India Congress Committee, confirmed that negotiations regarding seat distribution with the DMK are ongoing.


Chodankar Urges Patience

Addressing the media, Chodankar stated that further information would be provided following his meeting with DMK leadership and urged the public to remain patient and avoid speculation. He emphasized that discussions regarding the alliance with DMK would take place, and clarity would emerge post-meeting. This statement comes amid ongoing political discussions about the coalition arrangement in Tamil Nadu.


Expectations for Clarity on Seat Sharing

Following the meeting between Congress and DMK leaders, clarity on seat sharing is anticipated. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, while addressing a booth-level training conference for the party's western region in Coimbatore, asserted that the DMK would never bow down to the BJP. In his address to party workers ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Stalin remarked that this battle is not merely political but also about safeguarding the interests of Tamil Nadu.


Stalin Critiques PM Modi and AIADMK

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Stalin questioned why the metro rail project for Coimbatore had not been approved despite the full allocation of funds to Chennai. He also criticized the AIADMK for its alliance with the BJP, declaring, "We are not slaves to your threats. We will not be intimidated. We are fighting for the victory of Tamil Nadu, and the DMK will never yield to the BJP."
