Political Tensions Rise in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The DMK has expressed strong disapproval of the Congress party's recent decision to support actor-turned-politician Vijay's TVK in forming a government in Tamil Nadu, labeling it a 'betrayal' by their longstanding ally.

DMK spokesperson Saravanan Anadurai stated in a video interview, "The Congress has chosen to ally with TVK, which I believe is a betrayal... They have betrayed the people of Tamil Nadu and the mandate they provided."

He criticized the timing of this decision, noting that it occurred before the electoral process was fully finalized.

"They have moved forward with this alliance even before the returning officer's signature on the victory certificate dried," he remarked.

Anadurai highlighted the DMK's unwavering support for Congress, recalling how their leader, M K Stalin, had previously endorsed Rahul Gandhi as a potential Prime Ministerial candidate.

He raised concerns about the viability of the TVK's government, questioning their numbers. "The TVK requires at least 11 to 12 MLAs to remain viable, yet Congress only has five. What impact can they truly have?"

He accused Congress of engaging in self-destructive behavior for the sake of securing two cabinet positions within the TVK.

Additionally, he pointed out that the AIADMK has also pledged support to the TVK, questioning which faction the TVK would rely on for backing.

"Will they depend on five MLAs or 47? It’s perplexing who makes these decisions, as they do not serve the country's interests," he added.

Anadurai also criticized Vijay for not adequately expressing gratitude to his constituents after the election results were announced, claiming he prioritized thanking Modi instead.

The TVK has made a significant mark in Tamil Nadu's electoral history, emerging as the largest party and delivering a surprising defeat to the incumbent DMK, while the AIADMK fell to a distant third.
