A Touching Gesture by DM Dr. Ashish Chauhan
On Sunday morning, Dr. Ashish Chauhan, the District Magistrate of Dehradun, undertook a commendable and emotional initiative. He showcased his dedication and sensitivity towards children from the Tharu, Buxa, and underprivileged tribal communities of Northeast India.
Dr. Chauhan visited the 'Tribal Gurukul ITIITII Doon Culture School' located in Jhajra. There, he inaugurated the new academic year with a 'Vidyarambh Sanskar' ceremony. During this event, he presented the children with new school bags and books as gifts. He engaged with the children in a simple and entertaining manner, encouraging them to focus on their studies, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
This unique tribal school hosts students from various regions, including Khatima, Sitarganj, Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang and Namsai, as well as Imphal, Assam's Kokrajhar and Sonitpur, Tamenglong, and Banswara in Rajasthan. The silver jubilee celebration of this school was inaugurated by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, with blessings from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Deputy Chief Minister of Northeast India, Chowna Mein.
Dr. Ashish Chauhan's actions have won the hearts of both the children and their parents. He also promised to provide smart classrooms (digital boards) and sports equipment for the school. Former MP Tarun Vijay praised the DM's grounded approach, while the school's director, Ritvik, expressed gratitude by calling him 'the people's DM.'
The Indian Army, particularly the Spear Corps from the Northeast, and the Assam Rifles have played a significant role in this initiative. They have facilitated the education and instilled a sense of patriotism in tribal children living near the border by sending them to this school. Tarun Vijay commended the army, stating that the Indian Army not only protects the nation's borders but also works towards the development and brighter future of its citizens, a commitment rarely seen elsewhere in the world.
