Motion Against Speaker Om Birla Under Discussion

On Monday, Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, will initiate discussions regarding the motion to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The opposition has accused Birla of biased conduct. A total of 118 opposition MPs have signed the motion, claiming that the Speaker exhibited partiality by allegedly not allowing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak in the House. BJP MPs Anurag Thakur, Nishikant Dubey, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Bhartuhari Mahtab are expected to express their views on this matter. Sources indicate that Chirag Paswan from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will also address the session.

Kiren Rijiju's Strong Remarks Against Congress

Earlier in the day, Kiren Rijiju launched a sharp critique against the Congress party, warning that they would regret bringing a no-confidence motion against Speaker Om Birla. While addressing journalists, Rijiju defended the Speaker, stating that the motion was brought forth without justification and merely to satisfy the stubbornness of one individual. He predicted that the BJP is prepared to respond robustly in the House and forecasted the motion's defeat.

Parliament's Budget Session Commences

Rijiju noted that the second part of the Parliament's budget session is set to commence today. He expressed disappointment that the session is starting with a motion to remove the Lok Sabha Speaker, particularly from the opposition, especially the Congress party. He emphasized that while they will respond to this motion, Congress should reflect on how far they are willing to go in undermining constitutional positions and dignity. He criticized them for disregarding court comments and showing contempt for the Election Commission.

Concerns of the Opposition Voiced

Furthermore, Rijiju accused Congress of disrespecting democracy and placing trust solely in one family. He reiterated that the motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker, brought without cause and thought, would ultimately fail. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed hope that the opposition's concerns would reach the Speaker through this motion.
