Dinesh Karthik Lauds Rajat Patidar's Leadership Ahead of RCB vs DC Clash
Praise for Rajat Patidar's Leadership Skills
Dinesh Karthik, the batting coach and mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), commended captain Rajat Patidar for his composed leadership style and clarity during matches. Karthik emphasized that Patidar commands significant respect among his teammates and effectively manages his bowlers with a calm demeanor. He pointed out that Patidar remains unflustered under pressure, benefiting from the support of players like Jitesh Sharma and seasoned professionals such as Virat Kohli, Josh Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Karthik remarked that Patidar's straightforward personality is evident in his gameplay, allowing him to remain composed and make decisive choices in high-stress situations. This statement was made during a press conference ahead of RCB's match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in New Delhi on Sunday.
Rajat Patidar's Composure Under Pressure
"His strength lies in the respect he commands in the locker room, and he has a unique approach to managing his bowlers. He is not easily confused and maintains a relaxed attitude. Jitesh Sharma serves as a reliable aide, guiding him during games, along with the invaluable experience of senior players like Virat Kohli and others who lend their support when needed," Karthik stated during the press briefing.
"Rajat embodies the calm demeanor you see on screen; he knows his game well. When the stakes are high, he remains composed and makes sound decisions. Meeting him reveals his simplicity, which positively influences his performance on the field," he added.
Upcoming Match and Current Standings
RCB is set to face DC in their next IPL 2026 match, currently holding the second position on the points table with 10 points. The team aims to solidify its standing as the tournament progresses.
Adapting to High T20 Scores
Karthik also discussed the increasing scores in T20 cricket, noting that totals exceeding 200 have become commonplace, presenting challenges for bowlers. He highlighted that flat pitches, enhanced batting techniques, and greater power among players have altered the dynamics of the game. Karthik stressed the importance of bowling units remaining vigilant and adjusting their strategies, mentioning that his team is diligently working to improve under these challenging conditions.
"Scores of 200-220 are now so frequent that 220 feels like the new 180. Teams are consistently achieving these totals, making it a significant challenge for bowlers. The pitches are quite favorable, and batters have broadened their stroke range while increasing their power; some of the sixes being hit are remarkable. Therefore, as a bowling unit, it’s crucial to stay aware of these trends and adapt accordingly. Without giving too much away, I can say we are striving to perform well," Karthik concluded.
