Dinesh Chandimal's Injury Update

Dinesh Chandimal, the seasoned Sri Lankan cricketer, was rushed to the hospital following a shoulder and neck injury sustained while attempting to save a boundary on the fourth day of the Galle Test against India on Tuesday.

As the most experienced batsman in the Sri Lankan lineup, Chandimal will undergo precautionary scans. Should these scans reveal any serious issues with his neck, the team may opt for a concussion substitute during their run-chase, with Sooriyabandara available as a backup top-order batsman, according to reports.

Chandimal made a sprint from deep mid-wicket to deep square leg, diving horizontally to intercept a shot from KL Rahul in the fourth over of the Indian innings.

Although he successfully prevented a couple of runs, he landed heavily on his shoulder, resulting in a tumble that contorted his neck and shoulder.

After collapsing beyond the boundary in evident pain, he received immediate attention from teammates, the team physiotherapist, and the doctor.

Throughout the incident, Chandimal was seen holding his neck, head, and shoulder repeatedly.

Despite the discomfort, he managed to walk back to the dressing room unaided.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara stepped in as a substitute fielder during this time.

In the first innings, Chandimal had scored only four runs.

India's Dominance on Day 4

Even with India establishing a substantial lead, Sri Lanka fought back by taking regular wickets during the first session of day four in the Galle Test.

At the end of the first session, India stood at 116/4, with Rishabh Pant (21*) and Dhruv Jurel (5*) remaining not out. India currently leads by 294 runs.

Day 3 Summary: Dinusha's Efforts Fall Short

Despite Sonal Dinusha achieving his maiden Test century on Day 3, Sri Lanka could only muster 284 runs in their first innings, trailing India's total of 462 and leaving them with a significant deficit of 178 runs.

Dinusha and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella formed a solid partnership, adding 146 runs for the sixth wicket and keeping the Indian bowlers at bay. However, Prasidh Krishna dismissed Dickwella for 80 runs in the 62nd over.

While Dinusha secured his century, bowlers Suthar (4/76) and Jadeja (3/57) ensured Sri Lanka could not extend their score further.
