Diljit Dosanjh Addresses Khalistani Supporters During Concert in Calgary
Diljit Dosanjh's Response to Khalistani Supporters
During his Aura World Tour in Calgary, Canada, singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh confronted Khalistani supporters who were displaying posters and flags. From the stage, he addressed them directly, explaining his appearance on Amitabh Bachchan's show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' last year. Khalistani supporters had accused him of touching Bachchan's feet, a figure linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
In a bold move, Diljit halted the concert to firmly tell the Khalistani supporters in Punjabi to leave. He stated, "While charity isn't my primary focus, I always speak about Punjab wherever I go. We often say that national media overlooks Punjab, which is why I appeared on that channel, solely for Punjab's sake. I raised issues concerning Punjab there and have always been ready to help my state whenever necessary."
In 2025, Diljit had appeared on 'KBC', where he appealed for donations for relief efforts following devastating floods in Punjab. He actively contributed to these efforts. He further mentioned that he had also appeared on Jimmy Fallon's show to discuss Punjab and the incident involving Guru Nanak.
He clarified, "I didn't go there to promote a film or song; my aim was to bring Punjab's issues to the forefront, so that national media would address them. If you still have a problem with me sitting on TV with someone, wave as many flags as you want."
Controversy Surrounding Diljit's KBC Appearance
Last October, Diljit Dosanjh appeared on KBC 17, where he touched Amitabh Bachchan's feet. During this segment, Bachchan praised him, referring to him as 'Punjab da puttar' for his contributions to flood relief in Punjab.
Diljit also performed the song 'Main Hoon Punjab' from his upcoming film 'Chamkila', directed by Imtiaz Ali. However, following the episode's airing, he received threats from an organization called Sikhs for Justice, which is believed to be associated with Khalistani groups.
