Dilip Ghosh's Remarks on TMC and Political Landscape

Following the decline of Mamata Banerjee's 15-year rule in West Bengal, newly elected BJP MLA Dilip Ghosh expressed his views in an interview with a private media group, labeling the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as a rootless mafia organization that should be eradicated from society. However, shortly thereafter, this emerging leader in the race for the Chief Minister position softened his stance regarding the inclusion of TMC workers into the BJP. The party has stated that they are not currently accepting new members, but 'currently' does not imply permanently. Ghosh pointed out that individuals like Tapas Roy, elected from Maniktala in North Kolkata, have been welcomed into the party. Therefore, if someone is beneficial and has good intentions, they may join in the future, but for now, the party's doors remain closed.

Celebrating Victory and Future Aspirations

Despite his impressive victory from his stronghold in Kharagpur Sadar, Dilip Ghosh's enthusiasm remains high. This was vividly illustrated by a viral video of him celebrating atop a JCB bulldozer, a powerful political symbol in the current climate. Ghosh's name has emerged among the top contenders for the Chief Minister role, alongside Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram during the last elections and subsequently won in Bhabanipur this time. Ghosh appeared unfazed, stating that whatever decision the party makes is entirely up to them, asserting, 'I am just a soldier.'

A New Passion for Dragon Fruit Cultivation

After suffering a significant defeat in the Bardhaman-Durgapur constituency during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Dilip Ghosh felt disheartened, believing his political career was over. However, he became passionate about transforming West Bengal into a hub for dragon fruit cultivation. He previously mentioned to this writer that not receiving a ticket from his stronghold in West Medinipur and being reassigned elsewhere at the last moment was part of an 'internal conspiracy.' Nevertheless, his political journey was far from over. With the leadership of the BJP in Bengal shifting to Samik Bhattacharya a year before the elections, Ghosh found himself back in the spotlight, securing the opportunity to contest from his home region and has not looked back since.
