Dilip Ghosh Responds to Kalyan Banerjee's Allegations
West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has stated that no attack occurred against TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee. He dismissed Banerjee's allegations as mere theatrics and advised the public not to take his words seriously. Ghosh also cautioned the TMC MP to remain vigilant and avoid leaving the assembly, citing significant public anger towards Banerjee and the TMC.
Ghosh remarked that it was evident no one pushed or assaulted Banerjee, emphasizing that the theatrics were visible in the assembly and elsewhere. He noted that Banerjee, a senior leader and lawyer, has faced numerous complaints regarding his conduct, and there is considerable public discontent against him. He advised Banerjee to be cautious and prioritize his safety, stating that such dramatics do not suit him.
On Sunday, Kalyan Banerjee alleged that he was attacked near the Chanditala police station in Hooghly district while attempting to submit a delegation regarding post-election violence. He described the incident as an attempted murder, claiming that BJP workers assaulted him outside the police station. This incident follows an alleged attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, who was visiting families affected by post-election violence in Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas. Reports indicate that Banerjee was struck with bricks, stones, and eggs, resulting in an eye injury.
BJP leader Rajesh Kumar condemned the attack, suggesting that individuals from Banerjee's own party might be involved. He mentioned that names of his party members have surfaced in connection with the attack on Abhishek Banerjee, indicating that they have also committed various atrocities. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the BJP does not support such actions. Discussing the attack on Kalyan Banerjee, Kumar noted the visible dissatisfaction among the public towards him, asserting that the government will take action against those involved in the attack.
