Dilip Ghosh Criticizes Mamata Banerjee Amidst BJP's Historic Win in West Bengal
BJP Leader's Strong Words for Mamata Banerjee
On Wednesday, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh reprimanded Mamata Banerjee for refusing to resign from her position as Chief Minister of West Bengal, despite the TMC's significant defeat in the state assembly elections. Ghosh criticized the TMC chief for her 15-year tenure marked by allegations of corruption and violence, stating, "This position is only temporary; everyone must eventually leave this world."
It is noteworthy that the BJP has gained a substantial lead in the Bengal elections, preparing to form the next government. The saffron party secured 207 seats, while the TMC was limited to just 80.
Mamata Banerjee's Defiance
Mamata Banerjee firmly stated on Tuesday that she would not resign from her role as Chief Minister. She alleged that the election results did not reflect the true mandate of the people but were instead the result of a conspiracy involving the BJP and the Election Commission.
During a press conference, she declared, "I will not resign; I have not lost, and I will not go to Raj Bhavan... that is out of the question. I also want to emphasize that we have not lost the elections. This is their attempt to defeat us. Officially, they may use the Election Commission to claim victory, but morally, we have won the elections."
Allegations of Election Manipulation
Banerjee accused the election process of being manipulated and highlighted significant irregularities, labeling the Chief Election Commissioner as the 'villain' of this election. Questioning the integrity of the voting machines, she asked, "How could the machines show 80-95% charge after voting? How is that possible?"
BJP's Landmark Victory in West Bengal
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a decisive victory in West Bengal, winning 207 out of 294 seats in the assembly. This result marks the end of the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Furthermore, this will be the first time the BJP will form a government in the state.
This outcome is viewed as a significant political shift in West Bengal. Alongside the TMC's overall defeat, Mamata Banerjee also lost the high-profile Bhawanipur seat to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
