Transition to Digital Toll Payments
New Delhi: Starting Saturday, all toll fees at National Highway plazas throughout India will be collected solely through digital methods, specifically FASTag or Unified Payments Interface (UPI), as per an official announcement.
This initiative marks a crucial advancement in enhancing both the efficiency and transparency of toll collection processes.
Nevertheless, the statement clarified that this digital transition will not take effect in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Puducherry due to the Model Code of Conduct currently in place because of the ongoing Assembly elections.
