Congress President's Allegations

In Ranchi, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of canceling his trip to Kashmir after receiving an intelligence report just three days prior to the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred last month.

Kharge asserted that the government acknowledged an 'intelligence failure' during an all-party meeting and emphasized the need for accountability regarding the lack of enhanced security measures in Kashmir to safeguard citizens.

He stated, 'I learned that an intelligence report was sent to Modi Ji three days before the attack, which led to the cancellation of his Kashmir visit. If the report indicated that it was unsafe for him to go, why didn’t he alert the security forces, local police, and border patrol to ensure the safety of the public? While he canceled his plans, no additional forces were dispatched to protect tourists in the area.'

The tragic Pahalgam attack on April 22 resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists.

Speaking at the 'Samvidhan Bachao' rally in Jharkhand's capital, Kharge claimed, 'During the all-party meeting, you (PM Modi) acknowledged that there was an intelligence flaw.'

He questioned, 'Shouldn't the Centre be held responsible for the lives lost in the Pahalgam incident after admitting to the intelligence failure?'

Kharge also expressed that the Congress party supports any actions the Centre may take against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack, emphasizing that national interests transcend party lines, religion, and caste.
