Dibrugarh, Oct 31: In a remarkable achievement, Dibrugarh district has secured the ‘Surakshit District’ designation under the National AIDS Control Programme, becoming the first among Assam's six high-priority districts to meet all three objectives of the 95-95-95 framework, as indicated by the Mobilization for AIDS Suraksha (MAS) Dashboard of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO).

The Mobilization for AIDS Suraksha initiative was introduced by NACO to enhance India's efforts in eradicating HIV/AIDS as a public health concern by the year 2030. This accomplishment highlights Dibrugarh's advancements in improving HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services.

The 95-95-95 targets are crucial benchmarks in the global fight against HIV, aiming for 95% of individuals living with HIV to be aware of their status, 95% of those diagnosed to receive antiretroviral therapy (ART), and 95% of those on treatment to achieve viral suppression. Meeting all three targets signifies significant progress in curbing HIV transmission and enhancing the quality of life for those affected.

This success is attributed to the dedicated and collaborative efforts of the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTCs), ART Centre personnel, healthcare workers, partner departments, organizations, and community members. Their joint initiatives in facilitating access to HIV testing, ensuring prompt treatment, and fostering community involvement have been instrumental in this achievement.

The district administration has praised all healthcare professionals, partner organizations, and stakeholders for their contributions to this significant milestone.

This accomplishment serves as a motivation to persist in collective endeavors aimed at providing accessible, inclusive, and comprehensive HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services throughout the district. Free HIV testing and treatment services are available at all government health facilities.
