Two days after resigning from his position as the Union Education Minister following significant student protests, Dharmendra Pradhan made his way to Parliament on Monday. He received a warm welcome from BJP members, who greeted him with enthusiastic applause. Pradhan appeared cheerful as his colleagues celebrated his presence. One BJP MP remarked that it might be the first instance of a central minister resigning without facing personal allegations.

During this welcoming event, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh approached Pradhan to express sympathy regarding his resignation. Ramesh commented, "Such things happen." Pradhan quickly responded, stating, "Nothing has happened," and added, "I am a leader who fights on the ground, not an activist working from an AC room." BJP leaders interpreted this brief exchange as a sign that Pradhan remains politically confident and is ready to take on his next responsibilities despite stepping down from the cabinet.

This has sparked speculation within the BJP regarding Pradhan's future role. As one of the prominent leaders in Odisha, he has frequently been entrusted with significant responsibilities related to organization and elections. Pradhan resigned on Saturday after weeks of protests led primarily by the Cockroach Public Party (CJP).

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a high-level task force chaired by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani. This task force is tasked with recommending reforms to make the examination system leak-proof. This morning, the government introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha to amend the anti-paper leak law, proposing penalties of up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to 5 million rupees. This action comes just days after nationwide student protests against the NEET exam scandal, which led to Pradhan's resignation as Education Minister.
