Dewald Brevis Unfazed by External Pressure Ahead of T20 World Cup

Brevis Remains Focused Amidst External Noise

Dewald Brevis, the promising South African cricketer, has expressed that external distractions are a constant presence, whether participating in the SA20 league or the World Cup. Currently representing the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20, Brevis emphasized his intent to enjoy the game during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, which kicks off on February 7. He stated, "There’s always outside noise, regardless of whether it’s SA20 or the World Cup. At the end of the day, it’s just a cricket match with a white ball, and I plan to play my game and enjoy it as I always do. Outside noise doesn’t impact me."

Excitement for the Upcoming World Cup

Brevis shared his enthusiasm, noting that players are in good form as they prepare for the World Cup. He remarked, "It’s exciting to see everyone’s form improving. However, our focus remains on the present, which is the SA20, and we are enjoying our time here. The World Cup is just around the corner, and it’s super exciting."

Brevis' Impressive T20I Journey

Since making his T20I debut against Australia in Durban in August 2023, the 22-year-old has participated in 19 matches, amassing 469 runs with an impressive strike rate of 173.70. His T20I record includes one century and several half-centuries.

Maharaj's Focus on the Present

Keshav Maharaj, the captain of Pretoria Capitals, recently shared his mindset as the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 approaches. The left-arm spinner is part of South Africa's squad for the tournament, which begins on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. Maharaj, who has played 40 T20Is and taken 38 wickets since his debut in 2021, is currently leading his team in the SA20 league.

Following a 15-run victory over the Durban Super Giants, Maharaj stated, "I’m not looking too far ahead; this is a great chance for us to gain match practice. We’ve only played one series in India, so this is a valuable opportunity to build up towards the World Cup."

Insights on T20 Cricket

When discussing the dynamics of T20 cricket, Maharaj emphasized the importance of trusting the process and maintaining hard work. He explained, "In T20 cricket, there are times when you concede runs, and times when you take wickets or bowl economically. It’s crucial to trust your processes and keep working hard. Sometimes things go your way, and sometimes they don’t, but I always maintain a positive mindset."
