ICC Rankings Update: Dewald Brevis Shines

The ICC has released its latest rankings, showcasing a significant rise for South African batsman Dewald Brevis, aged 22. His impressive century in the second T20 match against Australia has propelled him up the rankings by an astonishing 80 spots.

Additionally, Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma has also seen a boost, gaining one position without playing any matches, surpassing former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

In the match, Brevis scored an unbeaten 125 runs, leading his team to a 53-run victory over Australia. Alongside him, 19-year-old Quinton de Kock delivered an outstanding bowling performance, contributing significantly to the win.

This century marks Brevis's first in T20 internationals and is now the highest score achieved by any batsman in Australia in this format. He surpassed Shane Watson's previous record of 124 runs, which was made against India in Sydney in 206.

Brevis has now become the second-fastest South African to score a century in T20s, and he holds the record for the highest score and the youngest player to achieve a century in this format.

Following this remarkable innings, he has climbed to the 21st position in the ICC T20 batting rankings.

Moreover, Tim David has moved up six spots to reach 10th place in the ICC rankings, marking his highest career rating. His teammate Cameron Green also ascended six positions to 17th, while South African player Tristan Stubbs jumped 12 spots to secure the 27th position.

Kagiso Rabada gained 15 places, while Lungi Ngidi rose 14 spots to reach the 50th position in the ICC T20 bowlers' list.

In the ICC ODI rankings, Rohit Sharma's one-position gain places him second, while Babar Azam slipped to third due to a poor performance in the ODI series against the West Indies.
