Severe Weather Causes Destruction in Dhar Kandi
The recent heavy rainfall in the Dhar Kandi area has led to catastrophic landslides, severely impacting the villages of Boh, Ron, Sapera, and Ghardghu. The landslides have caused significant damage to homes, leaving many families devastated as their years of hard work were lost in an instant.
In response to the disaster, district officials promptly visited Boh to connect with the affected residents. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reached out to victims through a video call, offering heartfelt condolences and pledging comprehensive support. He also indicated plans for a personal visit to the impacted region soon.
Community Leaders Mobilize for Relief Efforts
Kewal Singh Pathania, the local MLA and Deputy Chief Whip, although not physically present in the constituency, maintained constant communication with both the administration and party members. He assured families through video calls that they would not face this crisis alone. Pathania instructed Congress leaders and volunteers to promptly reach the affected areas to aid in relief operations.
Government Support and Relief Camps Established
The Chief Minister has committed to providing housing solutions, financial assistance, and support of up to ₹8 lakh for families whose homes have been completely destroyed. Additionally, relief camps have been established at the Government Senior Secondary School in Boh, offering shelter, food, and essential services to nearly 160 displaced individuals.
Ongoing Relief Efforts by Local Leaders
Congress officials, including District President Suresh Pataku, Surjit Rana, and Pradeep Baloria, have been actively coordinating relief initiatives throughout Dhar Kandi and surrounding panchayats. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi also reached out to families via video call, instructing officials to prioritize legitimate requests and ensure comprehensive rehabilitation.
Pathania reiterated that the state government, local administration, and Congress party are unwavering in their support for every affected family. Relief and rehabilitation efforts will persist until all families are safely settled back into their homes.
