Devastating Explosion in Iran Claims Lives of 14 IRGC Soldiers

Tragic Incident in Northwestern Iran

A catastrophic explosion in Iran has caused widespread panic, resulting from a powerful bomb detonation. According to the official news agency, 14 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) lost their lives in this incident. The blast occurred on Friday in the northwestern province of Zanjan, where IRGC soldiers were conducting a clearance operation. Reports indicate that the explosion took place during a bomb disposal mission in the region, leading to the deaths of 14 IRGC personnel and injuring two others.

As reported by a news agency, the incident transpired in Zanjan province during a specialized clearance mission when the bomb unexpectedly detonated. The deceased were part of a unit tasked with removing and neutralizing leftover explosives in the area. Local officials have expressed concerns that the presence of unexploded ordnance poses a continuous threat to both the local population and agricultural land. Approximately 1,200 hectares of farmland are at risk due to the existence of live bombs. The IRGC's Ansar al-Mahdi unit has issued a statement attributing the explosion to unexploded munitions left over from wartime. The 14 soldiers who perished were regarded as the most experienced and skilled members of their unit. It is believed that the munitions found in the area were remnants of cluster bombs and aerial mines deployed during conflicts. The two injured soldiers have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
