Detention of Iranian Commander's Family Members

Sarinasadat Hosseiny, a relative of the deceased Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani, has been apprehended in the United States alongside her mother. The 25-year-old Hosseiny and her mother, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, were detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after their permanent residency was revoked, as confirmed by the US State Department. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on social media that they are currently in custody awaiting deportation, noting that they had been enjoying a luxurious lifestyle in the US as green card holders.

The revocation of their residency is reportedly linked to alleged connections with the Iranian government, which the US has classified as a terrorist entity due to its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The State Department highlighted that Afshar had previously shown support for Iran's leadership and had endorsed assaults on US military personnel and facilities, even referring to the US as the "Great Satan," a term commonly used by Iranian officials.

Witnesses reported a significant law enforcement presence during the arrests. Local resident Halasius Bradford recounted seeing numerous police and federal vehicles in the vicinity on Friday evening, describing the scene as chaotic with both local police and ICE agents involved.

Social media posts attributed to Hosseiny reveal a lifestyle focused on travel and fashion during her stay in the US. Her online presence includes photos and videos from events in Miami, Alaska, and Las Vegas, showcasing her with luxury items and traveling via private jets and yachts. Many images depict her in designer outfits, curating an influencer-like online persona.

This situation arises amidst increased scrutiny of individuals with alleged ties to the Iranian government, particularly as tensions between Washington and Tehran escalate. The US authorities have not provided a timeline for the completion of the deportation process for the two women.
