Dense Fog Disrupts Flight Operations at Delhi Airport Amid Winter Chill

Impact of Fog on Flight Operations

Due to the ongoing cold weather and dense fog, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi announced on Friday that flight operations had been affected. However, visibility has started to improve. The airport's advisory indicated that both arrivals and departures are continuing, although some delays may occur. On Thursday, it was reported that operations were being conducted under Category III (CAT III) due to low visibility.

IndiGo Airlines also issued a travel advisory noting that fluctuations in visibility have led to changes in flight schedules for routes including Delhi NCR, Amritsar, Jabalpur, and Jalandhar. As conditions evolve, operations may be slower than usual.

The advisory emphasized that ground teams are prioritizing safety and visibility compliance. Passengers are encouraged to monitor their flight status closely. If flights are affected, travelers can easily rebook or claim refunds through the airline's website.

Meanwhile, the Indian aviation authority issued a notice stating that delays or disruptions in airport operations may occur due to dense fog in parts of northern India. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their airlines for real-time updates and to rely solely on official channels for accurate information, allowing extra time for travel and airport procedures.

As winter sets in across northern India, dense fog has enveloped Delhi and surrounding states, significantly reducing visibility during morning hours and disrupting airport operations. Consequently, today, 79 departures and 73 arrivals, including two international flights, were canceled at Delhi Airport.
