Dense Fog Disrupts Air Traffic in Northern India

Severe Fog Impacts Flights at Delhi Airport

Jaipur/New Delhi, December 30, 2025: The thick fog enveloping northern India has severely affected air travel. Due to low visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, numerous flights are unable to land, resulting in many being diverted or delayed. Jaipur International Airport has emerged as a key alternative destination for flights arriving from Delhi, with several already redirected there.

Sources indicate that the dense fog has led to the rerouting of multiple flights to Jaipur. This includes a charter flight, several domestic flights, and one international flight. Notable diverted flights include:

  • Air India Express flight from Bhubaneswar to Delhi (IX 1060)

  • Air India Express flight from Surat to Delhi (IX 1264)

  • Air India Express flight from Srinagar to Delhi (IX 1029)

  • IndiGo flight from Indore to Delhi (6E 6002)

  • SF Airlines international flight from China’s Yizhou to Delhi (O 3175)

  • Air India Express flights from Ranchi to Delhi (IX 1053 and IX 1056)

  • Charter flight from Vijayawada to Delhi

  • SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Delhi (SG 386)

  • Akasa Air flight from Pune to Delhi (QP 1810)

Officials at Jaipur Airport have reported a continuous increase in the number of diverted flights due to the fog. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights beforehand.

Airlines have also issued advisories for travelers. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have communicated via social media that flights may experience delays or diversions due to the fog in northern India. Although CAT-III procedures are in place at Delhi Airport, operations are still being affected due to extremely low visibility.
