Demand for CBI Inquiry into Missing Woman Case in Meghalaya

Call for CBI Investigation
On Saturday, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a CBI investigation into the case of a woman from Indore who has gone missing in Meghalaya. The missing individual, Sonam Raghuvanshi, aged 25, had traveled to Meghalaya for her honeymoon with her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, who is 29 years old.
Circumstances of Disappearance
Sonam was reported missing shortly after leaving a homestay in the Nongriat village of East Khasi Hills district on May 23. Tragically, on June 2, Raja's body was discovered in a deep gorge near a waterfall, approximately 20 kilometers from the homestay. However, the Meghalaya police have yet to find any leads regarding Sonam's whereabouts.
Police Investigation and Family Concerns
Following the discovery of Raja's body, the police have registered a murder case. In a post on social media, Chief Minister Yadav expressed solidarity with Sonam Raghuvanshi's family during this difficult time. He mentioned that he has discussed the matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya.
Ongoing Efforts for Safe Return
Senior police officials from Madhya Pradesh are in constant communication with their counterparts in Meghalaya. Yadav has formally requested the Union Home Minister to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation. He assured that all possible measures are being taken to ensure Sonam Raghuvanshi's safe return. Family members of Sonam expressed their dissatisfaction with the Meghalaya police's investigation on Friday and have appealed to the central government to transfer the case to the CBI.
